Apple TV+ once again probes the supernatural corners of Center City Philadelphia with the first teaser trailer for Season 3 of Servant. Returning to the world of streaming in early 2022, the show's third outing finds nanny Leanne Grayson (Nell Tiger Free) back with Sean and Dorothy Turner (played by Toby Kebbell and Lauren Ambrose). Even baby Jericho is alive again as the core group of characters attempts to settle back into a normal family routine.

Psych! You didn't think we'd get a happy ending this soon, did you? Leanne may have terminated her membership as a religious zealot, but the cult is far from done with her. Let them come, though, because she's ready to put up one hell of a fight to defend the people she loves. "I'm gonna wait right here for them," she declares. "And I will protect my family."

Rupert Grint and Phillip James Brannon also return as (Julian Pearce, Dorothy's brother) and Matthew Roscoe (Julian's private investigator friend), respectively. Sunita Mani (GLOW) has been added as a new addition to the cast.

Executive-produced and partly directed by M. Night Shyamalan (Glass, Old), the series was renewed for a third outing ahead of the Season 2 premiere last year. The plan is to produce six seasons in total and while Apple has yet to green-light a fourth outing, a writers' room was already convened for one in July of 2020.

Appearing at New York Comic Con ahead of the Season 1 premiere in late 2019, Shyamalan described the project as "so tragic and weird and scary." He asserted that his goal was to create something so bizarre and unique, that audiences wouldn't be sure whether to laugh or be scared.

During an interview with SYFY WIRE, the show's creator and writer, Tony Basgallop, explained how he wanted to put a sinister twist on the trope of the kind-hearted nanny archetype.

"It was as a parent going through those stages of hiring a nanny, and wondering what it feels like and what it means to invite someone into your home and do you trust them, and how do they observe you?" he said. "Do they judge you for the way you live your life? All these kinds of British sensibilities that I have, wiring back what other people think of me. It's like Mary Poppins, but it's the dark side of Mary Poppins. It's the reverse. It's, well, what if she's not here to help? What if she's here to do harm?"

Basgallop serves as an executive producer alongside Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black, Steve Tisch, Ashwin Rajan, and Taylor Latham. Directors for Season 3 are M. Night Shyamalan, Ishana Night Shyamalan, Carlo Mirabella-Davis, Dylan Holmes, Celine Held, Logan George, Kitty Green, Veronika Franz, and Severin Fiala. Ryan Scott, Ishana Night Shyamalan, Alyssa Clark, Laura Marks, Henry Chaisson, Amy Louise Johnson, and Kara Lee Corthon comprise the writing team.

Servant returns to Apple TV+ for its third season on Jan. 21, 2022. New episodes will drop on a weekly basis. The first two seasons are streaming now.
