Servant: Apple TV+ babysits first creepy trailer for M. Night Shyamalan series

After several enigmatic teasers for Servant, we now have the official trailer for the M. Night Shyamalan-produced/directed horror series on Apple TV+ — plus an inkling of what the plot is actually about.

Set in Philadelphia, the show follows Sean and Dorothy Turner (Toby Kebbell and Lauren Ambrose, respectively), a Philadelphia couple who come to learn that the nanny they've hired to look after their baby is not all that she seems. If only it were that weird, because the Turners' child, Jericho, is no longer alive (he died at 13 weeks) and Dorothy has actually been caring for a fake baby doll this entire time.

Game of Thrones' Nell Tiger Free plays the strange nanny, Leanne Grayson. Trust us when we say Mrs. Doubtfire she ain't.

You can check out the trailer, which was first shown at New York Comic Con in early October, below:

“That premise is so tragic and weird and scary. It’s also inappropriately funny … I’m really interested in the 'You’re scared and laughing' kind of thing," Shyamalan said of the project at NYCC.

Created by Tony Basgallop (writer of Inside Men and Berlin Station), Servant only takes place in one single location: the Turner household.

"It forces you to do something different for the writing," Basgallop, who wrote all of the episodes, also said at the con. "You realize you get a little bit tired [as a writer] sometimes. When you give yourself that restriction, it changes everything. ... And it really helps, because you just can't tell the story the way your instinct tells you to."

"It has almost this playlike quality to it," admitted Shyamalan.

Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) co-stars on the show.

Apple TV+ went live last Friday. Season 1 of Servant won't drop on the streaming service until Nov. 28.
