WIRE Buzz: Warrior Nun renewed; Supernatural set pic; Lovecraft Country pilot free on YouTube

As Supernatural heads towards its end with the long-running genre show's 15th and final season, the show that made the Winchester boys into an unmissable tag-team of otherworldly fun has released one of its final pictures from set.

Thanks to the Supernatural Tape Ball Instagram account (listen, show diehards know), fans can get a glimpse at Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) during production on one of their two final episodes — with proper coronavirus precautions in place, of course.

Take a look:

"When their Covid test results come in before yours," the caption reads, showing the show's leads sitting at least six feet away from the photographer (and the tape ball) at the end of a long table in the Men of Letters bunker. At least they're able to shoot, which is good because The CW just released the planned schedule for the series' end. Would've been more than a little embarassing to have to cancel the series finale.

The final seven-episode run of Supernatural will kick off Oct. 8, with the finale airing on Nov. 19.

Next, even genre fans without HBO will be able to at least dip their toes into the eldritch horrors of Lovecraft Country.

The first episode of the critical and popular hit series (about a Black community dealing with magic, monsters, and more in the Jim Crow era across America) is now available for free on YouTube:

Lovecraft Country: "Sundown" Episode 1 (Full Episode) | HBO

Seriously, this is worth anyone's hour. Showrun by Misha Green, Lovecraft Country stars a killer ensemble including Jonathan Majors, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jurnee Smollett, and Courtney B. Vance as they navigate a world filled with horror staples and racist allegory. The first episode holds off on its monsters until the end, but it's very worth it when the horror rears its bloody head. Oh yeah, this show is rated R for "ridiculous amounts of nasty."

If the pilot was enough to woo fans, Lovecraft Country continues to air its first season on HBO every Sunday.

Finally, one of Netflix's new genre shows with one of the strangest premises (and titles) is coming back for a second season.

Warrior Nun, the relatively self-explanatory series inspired by Ben Dunn’s Warrior Nun Areala manga and showrun by Simon Barry (Continuum), has been officially renewed for Season 2. The main cast — Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner, and Olivia Delcán — is set to reprise their roles, with Baptista leading the series as a teen who discovers she's a member of an ancient order of demon-battling Nuns.

Here's the cast finding out about their renewal:

The series premiered earlier this summer on July 2 and looks to add more cast at a later date. No word on when Warrior Nun will return to the streamer, but the Buffy-esque drama will be back at some point.
