After a terrifying Comic-Con debut and a teaser that situated the film squarely in producer James Wan’s wheelhouse, The Curse of La Llorona returns with its first full trailer showing off all the ghostly happenings surrounding two mothers.

Set in ‘70s L.A., the Latin American folktale come to life haunts Linda Cardellini’s social worker and her children after plenty of warning from a woman (Patricia Velasquez) that already knows what they’re up against: La Llorona aka The Weeping Woman. La Llorona is a woman cursed after murdering her own children and now she’s walking the Earth as a spector dead-set on drowning even more.

Director Michael Chaves’ debut feature comes from a script by Mikki Daughtry & Tobias Iaconis and looks to add an entirely new mythology to the horror canon over at New Line, though one that still borrows aesthetically from The Conjuring universe. The film’s new trailer shows off more plot than previous footage, which has primarily been short, scare-filled scenes.

Check it out:

Raymond Cruz is called in to deal with the curse and plenty of kids are WAY too close to a creepy ghost lady. The camera spirals as it zooms in or pulls back, light snuffs out in the woman’s presence, and there’s lots and lots of screaming. About what you’d expect from the people that brought The Nun and Annabelle to the world — only this time Cardellini has a chance to flex her horror chops as the lead and a little more real-world culture is slipping into the horrorverse.

The Curse of La Llorona creeps into theaters on April 19.
