Eagly has eclipsed Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) as the world’s most loveable mascot now that Peacemaker is the most streamed show in the world. In fact, the HBO Max series was more watched last week than The Witcher and The Book of Boba Fett. We’re guessing those HBO execs can really taste it.

Data from Parrot Analytics revealed that the HBO Max series was the top digital original TV series in the world on Jan. 21 and 22, being 69.5 times more in demand than the average show worldwide. The series finished just ahead of Netflix’s The Witcher (which was 67.7 times more than the average series) and Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett (66 times more).

It should be noted that both The Witcher and The Book of Boba Fett are streaming on services with significantly larger subscriber bases than HBO Max. While Netflix said last week that it had 222 million subscribers worldwide, Disney+ reported 118 million global subscribers as of October. HBO and HBO Max, meanwhile, ended 2021 with a combined 73.8 million subscribers.

Domestically, Peacemaker was the series that saw the biggest increase in demand last week, experiencing a 159% increase in viewership after releasing its latest episode on Jan. 20. Hey, folks love that Eagly (and the cast’s dance moves).

The DCEU show is not just a hit with fans, but also with critics, currently boasting a freshness rate of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Peacemaker, the spinoff series from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, focuses on John Cena’s eponymous eagle-loving antihero, who made a vow to have peace, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. Cena explained to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that the overall theme of the series "is about wanting to be a superhero. Peacemaker is a guy who wears a uniform and has a set of skills and some helmets that can do some pretty incredible things. Peacemaker is an antihero because true acts of heroism are virtuous and Peacemaker is heavily flawed. He's a human being like all of us and he wants so badly to be accepted as his perception of himself, which is a superhero. And that's kind of where the humor of the show comes [from]. He's way out of touch with reality, he's got his own lens on life, and in doing so, offends pretty much everybody."

Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed five. The first four episodes of Peacemaker are streaming on HBO Max, with the remaining four installments dropping on a weekly basis every Thursday.
