Exclusive: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power open S5 with a thrown down against the Galactic Horde

By Tara Bennett

Six months ago, the Season 4 finale of Dreamworks Animation Television's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power left fans with a mega cliffhanger no one was expecting. In "Destiny Part 2," Adora (Aimee Carrero) made the shocking decision to shatter the Sword of Protection to save Etheria. And she did it just as their mega-nemesis, Horde Prime, is arriving with his Galactic Horde.

Not exactly the best time to relinquish your superpowers, Adora.

In our exclusive interview with executive producer/showrunner, Noelle Stevenson, at the end of Season 4, she softened the blow a bit by telling us: "They're going to win in the end. But knowing [Adora] can pull through after losing such a huge part of your identity, it gave me so much fuel for my fire."

Just how Adora and friends will save the day will be revealed in watching the final 13 episodes as the fifth and final season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power drops on Netflix May 15, 2020. We can share that Season 5 will pick up right where the Season 4 finale left off, with Adora, Bow, Mermista, and many of the other princesses figuring out how to handle Horde Prime's onslaught.

Even better, watch for yourself as SYFY WIRE has the first two and a half minutes of the premiere episode, "Horde Prime," which features Adora not exactly cowering from her enemies, even though she's sword-less...

This clip doesn't even address the fates of Catra (AJ Michalka) and Glimmer (Karen Fukuhara) who were taken to Horde Prime's ship. And what's going to happen to the citizens of Etheria as the threat to their lives looms overhead?

There's so much more to dive into, including seeing how Stevenson and company will leave Adora and Etheria open-ended, or closed, for potentially more chapters in the future.
