Oh fork! The Good Place gives SDCC sneak peek at Season 4 premiere

The Good Place has been blowing minds and raising theological debates (all while leaving us cackling) since it debuted in 2016. Its constant reinventions and surprising moral headtrips have kept us hooked. Now the existential NBC show is headed for its final season, and San Diego Comic-Con was the first to learn all about it.

After a few photos from Season 4 (like the one below) broke earlier this week, fans were buzzing about what could be in store for the main crew (and their eternal souls). Today at the show's Comic-Con panel, we found out.

SYFY WIRE was in attendance as stars Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, D'Arcy Carden, and Manny Jacinto spoke alongside executive producers Michael Schur and Drew Goddard about what Season 4 has in store, as the show approaches its end — and we also got to see a clip of the premiere.

Fans already knew that John (Brandon Scott Jones) and Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) would see expanded roles, but they had no idea that a boring old Norwegian woman would be dominating the early minutes of the premiere. This poor woman, possibly sent here to torture Jacinto's character, is dull as fork. She's not even impressed by the baby elephant, made of pure light, that whispers true secrets about the universe — like that Shirley Temple killed JFK. So, y'know, get ready for that to open up the upcoming final season — during which Bell makes her directorial debut.

The clip also showed Eleanor kicking off her journey to greet newly-departed humans to The Good Place. It seems to be going... not great. Maybe it'll get better by the finale, which, according to Bell, Schur just finished writing. But if the first three seasons are anything to judge by (and this show is all about judging, no?), then even procrastination can turn out alright. Oh, and did we mention that we're getting a new type of Janet? And, once the show ends, Jacinto will make public all the behind-the-scenes photos he's been taking on set for a while.

The Good Place begins its end on Sept. 26.
