Meat Loaf Aday

Whether he's on tape, stage, or screen, Meat Loaf's presence is always felt.  He is the Grammy Award-winning musical titan who holds the 4th biggest selling album of all time, Bat Out Of Hell.   This world-renowned, mammoth album produced multiple hit singles, including Paradise By The Dashboardlight.  The decades-long success of this album has re-invented itself in the popular, critically acclaimed rock musical production of Bat Out Of Hell:  The Musical, with Meat Loaf as an Associate Producer.  It premiered in the United Kingdom in early 2017 and is soon to be seen in Toronto, Canada. Even with combined sales of over 100 million records, he’s also an actor at heart.  After moving to Los Angeles in 1968, Meat began making a name for himself as a local musician but he also gained notoriety when he was hired as part of the New York production of the counter culture musical, Hair.  Once he relocated to New York, he appeared in several other Broadway productions, including the Rocky Horror Show. While living in the Big Apple in the early 70’s, he continued to cultivate a unique acting style while appearing in celebrated Joe Papp’s production of William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” in Central Park and other plays at the Manhattan Theater Club, Kennedy Center, Circle in the Square, and off-Broadway.  Meat was fortunate to have learned from some of the best names in show business. In 1975 he made his big screen debut in the cult phenomenon, The Rocky Horror Picture Show as Eddie.   The movie played a part in further establishing Meat as a versatile force in both film and music as he continued to evolve.   His enigmatic style has been portrayed in such film and television projects as Leap of Faith, Crazy in Alabama, Focus, written by Theatre Guild National Award winner Arthur Miller, Formula 51, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, the 2010 Toronto Film Festival International Film Critic’s Award Beautiful Boy, Pelts, a Masters of Horror episode directed by famed horror director Dario Argento, House, Hallmark special Citizen Jane, and Glee.  The list goes on and on for this Texas Film Hall Of Fame award recipient. In fact, the list would not be complete without mention of one of his most notable “offbeat” roles as Robert Paulson (“Bob”) in David Fincher’s 2000 masterpiece, Fight Club.  Alongside Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter, he proved riveting as the former bodybuilder and cancer survivor, giving the hyper-kinetic and violent film a poignant, emotional center. His most recent project, opposite Vincent Dinofrio and Kim Coates, is Ghost Wars.   Set in the remote Alaskan town of Port Moore, a community in crisis that is overrun by paranormal forces. Meat Loaf’s character is Doug Mercer, the town bully, a tyrannous handyman.  The new Syfy series airs Thursday, October 5, 2017.
